Sarasin Quant Solutions (SQS) is a business unit of Sarasin & Partners LLP. We are a specialist quant investment boutique embedded within a unique ecosystem, drawing upon the broader capabilities of Bank J. Safra Sarasin, one of the oldest Swiss financial groups.

SQS combines over 20 years of quant investing experience with an intrinsic passion to deliver robust investment engines and superior execution.

Our eco-system and trading capabilities allow us to undertake a plethora of investments across asset classes, develop new investment strategies which can be tailored to specific client’s needs, trade seamlessly with very limited operation risk and provide investors with detailed reporting.

  • Andrea Nardon - team
    Andrea Nardon

    Partner, Fund Manager, Head of Quant

    Andrea has just under 20 years of experience as a Quantitative Analyst, and joined Sarasin & Partners in 2006 to manage and develop the systematic franchise. He is passionate about quantitative research and is currently leading a variety of projects related to factor investing, artificial intelligence and market structures.

    Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Andrea worked as a portfolio manager for Deka Investment in Frankfurt, and before that as a quantitative analyst for Commerzbank. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Venice, and upon graduation spent a year in the Department of Mathematics to study the application of neural networks and fuzzy logic to equity time series. Andrea codes in multiple languages and uses MATLAB extensively.

  • Iuliia Shpak - team
    Iuliia Shpak, PhD

    Systematic Strategies Specialist

    Iuliia joined Sarasin & Partners in February 2016 to support the development of the systematic business. She has extensive academic research experience in asset pricing. Her research focus is on systematic factors, speculative bubbles and anomalies in commodity and equity markets.

    Before joining Sarasin & Partners, Iuliia worked for eight years in the business intelligence industry in the Middle East and Europe. She holds an MSc in Operational Research from the London School of Economics.

  • Marcello Iacone
    Marcello Iacone, PhD

    Software Developer

    Marcello joined Sarasin & Partners in May 2017 and works on key software projects in support of the systematic programs. Prior to this he worked for Foster & Partners and Neatec in Italy.

    Marcello graduated with a PhD in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Salerno in 2006, where he holds a research fellowship with a variety of publications and conferences to his name. He also has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Naples.

  • Ben Human
    Ben Human

    Quant Analyst, Deputy Fund Manager

    Ben focuses on research of quant strategies and supports the day-to-day management of systematic products. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Durham.

    Fluid dynamics is one of Ben's research interests and his area of concentration during his engineering programme. He is highly proficient in several programming languages including MATLAB, C#, and C++. Prior to Sarasin, Ben worked for the investment team at Prospect Wealth Management, a part of Raymond James.

  • Andrew Johnson
    Andrew Johnson

    Development Team Lead

    Andrew joined Sarasin & Partners in 2010, and has since implemented Agile principles and practices throughout the team, including TDD with continuous integration. He has been writing software solutions for over 30 years.

    Previously Andrew has worked for Societe Generale, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan and Haymarket. He studied Electronic Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand, holds a Diploma in Business Management and is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD).

  • Erik-Mermet
    Erik Mermet, CFA

    Senior Associate Partner

    Erik is responsible for Sarasin & Partners’ international business development for Institutional Clients. He began his career in 2008 as an investment analyst at Deutsche Bank (Suisse) S.A in Geneva, Switzerland. He then spent 9 years at Banque Lombard Odier & Cie SA, starting in Geneva where he worked extensively on developing the Nordic private clients desk.

    Erik then transferred to London where he helped build the European bank's new investment offering – including an innovative risk-parity multi asset strategy - and later moved to a broader role within their Product Management & Sales division covering Europe and Switzerland. Erik holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Manchester and is a CFA Charterholder.
